Google Earth

Map Maker Interactive
"Navigate iconic National Geographic maps with new interactive features and tools for creating custom materials that can be easily printed and shared. Animaps
Bring maps to life with this mapping tool. Animaps allows users to create animated maps by adding markers, images, and pop-up text. It is free and your maps can be shared with others as video.
Uses in the classroom:
Possible assessment tool by having students create an Animap of battle locations during the Revolutionary or Civil War.
Quikmaps
Using Google Maps as its platform, users can create a free account and draw on/manipulate maps. This program also includes a library of map icons to incorporate. Maps can be saved to user's account, saved, or printed.
Uses in the classroom:
Have students use to drawing tools to create weather maps with appropriate symbols.
